Vida Vončina
Vida is a critical pedagogue and a
sociologist of culture committed to education for social
change. She is working across different institutional and community settings in
projects that strive to extend the ideals of equity, inclusion and critical
reflection through education. She comes from Maribor, a
small working class city in Slovenia and appreciates her socialist upbringing
that set a good base for social
engagement. Her early work ranges from squatting an ex army facility where she
established a youth centre, to teaching and researching at the university.
Currently she lives in Melbourne, Australia where she works as a research
fellow at Victoria Institute for Education and teaches at Victoria University,
both institutions with strong equity agenda. Vida has been a member of Memefest
collective since its early days.
