Description of campaign/project

There is a language that approaches. And there is a language that send away.
It is trust. And affection. "In" himself and "to" and "from" another and another and ... and ... and ...
Confidence in the " POWER of language", the link between signifier and signified, which allows human beings to communicate in relationships with others and the environment, has its origins in the experience of contact with the mother's body in early life when he is completely dependent on his presence and the meaning and the weight of 'authority' is established in memory of the first moves of the infant. But «what happens when the relation is broken, when the access to language is separated from the body and from affection, reduced to mere inter-operability between mechanic segments of an-emotional exchange? I say that language is in this way made precarious, frail, unable to grasp the emotional meaning of words. Actually the generation that is now entering the social sphere seems psychologically frail and scarcely fit to link emotion and verbal exchange. The huge multiplication of tools for communication, the digital saturation of the info-sphere, has dramatically reduced the spaces and the times of bodily interaction between persons» [Franco Berardi Bifo].

Bordernetart_www.delfine.it is an artistic and technological research project realized with a group of adolescent female immersed in a "high security" neuro psychiatric structure, located in Hall 5 of the former psychiatric hospital Paolo Pini, of Affori (Milano) [Azienda Ospedaliera Ospedale Niguarda Ca’ Granda]. The therapeutic community “I Delfini” «accepts up to eight female adolescents aged between 13 and 17 years, presenting a severe psychiatric disorder of various types: adolescent psychosis, personality disorder, eating disorders». [Dr. Patrizia Conti]

Focus on the history of madness, now categorized between mental and organic disorders, and investigate how it is constituted as a phenomenon in a given culture, is fundamental to question the limits and CONFLICTS that culture imposes on itself through the “POWER of language”.

Bordernetart_www.delfine.it is testing the limits of the concept of relationship, between real and virtual (social networks), during the transition from analog to digital dimension.
With Lorena, Lorena, Marzia, Tatiana, Valerie, Alexandra, Sukaina, Sharon, Paula, Hanyeli, Veronica, Carolina, ... the girls for which I founded the “Compagnia Delfine”, I used an intranet (blocked sites for teenagers living in the community, like MySpace, Facebook, Google
video, Youtube, video and music sites, MSN, any tipology of chat denied), and any access to the network was allowed only through the use of the password of an educator. We have faced our structural and material difficulties using "poor" technologies at our disposal and open source software, downloaded from the network. We have protected our privacy, without giving up our right to education, culture, relationship and social participation.

Bordernetart_www.delfine.it is the online “living archive” of the artistic experiences, including analog and digital, that “Compagnia Delfine” made in the four years of “social and intemedia art workshop”, a practical cross the ownership of conscious and affective interdisciplinary different artistic languages, that I coordinate for them since 2007.
The language of the network, here and now, breaks the sense/non sense CONFLICT and becomes an occasion for a self-narrating in constant evolution. It 's a self-relational recounting his discovery of the singular sense of identity through the connection and the dissipation of fragments of LOVE and DESIRE. It 'a process of lovely resistance in which the symbolic “POWER of language” is played to recombine social identities.

To realize Bordernetart_www.delfine.it, since 2007, I coordinate the “social and intemedia art workshop” a practical cross the ownership of conscious and affective interdisciplinary different artistic languages. Each year participants devote to learning activities of the technical means available (mainly low-tech technologies, open source and free ware software, an intranet) and the final goal is the creation of a collective intermedia artwork. Reworking the legacy of fine arts, sculpture and literature, the laboratory implements an overrun of aesthetic languages and methods of traditional art approach, accepting and experimenting with the language of the latest digital technology, from creative writing to hypertext, from painting to photography, from theater to video, from music to the techniques of digital audio post-production, from the real and physical relationship to the virtual network.

Bordernetart_www.delfine.it is the first artworks realized for the Net by a group of petients that lives in a "high security" neuro psychiatric structure, where every contact with the public sphere must be controlled and filtered.
Therefore gives voice to the personal stories of teens who become the authors of a story that
winds from programming to the study of
the software for the construction of the tree
site, the interfaces (open and proprietary) to the
web design, to the analysis of concepts such as relationship, privacy, copyright. It is a diccult artwork
for the limits imposed by the context, a
work on social and ethical implications,
a work that penetrates the mesh
network with the virus infecting the difference
and suffering, an artwork that
becomes a metaphor for communication difficulties
the time of a virtual social.

I leraned that the LOVE that our MOTHERS transfer in our BODY, is the one of the main POWER to break CONFLICT between PRIVATE and PUBLIC SPHERE in the DIGITAL ERA.
