visual communication practice
Description of idea
Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the
festival outlines:
My concept depicts a female figure dragging a ball and chain behind her on a background featuring the lyrics to a Creedence Clearwater Revival song. “Ramble Tamble” is a song about debt and expense; how we are all always dealing with mortgages and paying back loans. A key line from the lyrics is “mortgage on my life,” which I incorporated into the female figure to connect her more to the background. The ball and chain attached to the figure’s leg represents debt and how it is a heavy burden on many. Although the ball is weighing her down, the figure is still pressing on with drive and endurance. I hope my concept communicates and encourages the idea of managing debt and not allowing it to incapacitate all those affected.
What kind of communication approach do you use?
For my idea, I felt I could express it most efficiently in the form of a poster.
What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of
your communication?
I feel my work has a positive connotation and could be placed virtually anywhere because of this. I hope my positive feel in the work provides encouragement to society.
What did you personally learn from creating your submitted
work?
I learned that there are many negative ways to represent this particular theme, but not many positive ones. I wanted to create something that brings hope to society.
Why is your work, GOOD communication
WORK?
I believe my work communicates its message efficently and in a universally recognised way. I utilised methods of representing my ideas in a form suitable for this competition.
Where and how do you intent do implement your
work?
As my work is a print form, it can be placed in many public areas and will therefore be seen by more people. A poster is a very cost-effective way of presenting ideas and also has more of an ability to attract viewers.
Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe
the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change
other media with your work-
how?)
