Fashion Reloaded is a swap, make & restyle event.
We bring together a large format clothes swap, with design-, sewing- and crafts upcycling workshops where worn clothing change owner, and change style. Designers, makers, users & consumers come together to upcycle someone elses trash into their own treasure.
The project was initiated in Summer 2009 by graphic designer Sophie Bayerlein and fashion designer Cecilia Palmer of the green label Pamoyo.

How does project benefit the client (if there is a client)?
The participants can swap clothes they no longer use for new favorites. Once swapped, the garments can be redesigned and restyled at the fully equipped workshop. We provide materials, tools, sewing machines, practical assistance and an inspiring upcycling environment.
How does project benefit the people you are speaking to with your communication?
We encourage people to take the step from consumer to maker, and actively co-create their clothes and thereby the environment.
How does project benefit the wider society?
Too much, way too much clothes are consumed quickly and then thrown away to the landfills. We promote upcycling and swapping as an alternative consumer culture.
How did/does this project benefit author (authors/makers of the project)?
First of all by being utterly inspiring, bringing is together with great people and having a lot of fun. We believe that by spreading on the skills of making and letting the audience experience the process (and the work) behind making ones clothes, we also spread the ability of truly appreciating well-made, quality clothes, which is needed for designers (like us, and others) to compete with the fast-fashion industry.
Tell us something about your view on communication. What is your / your organisation's / initiative's (visual) communication philosophy?
By all means,
to show, in practise, that
there is no win
there is no fail
there is only make.
And by that, we can make the world a little bit better, stitch by stitch.
What about the process of creating this work? Please describe it.
The process started in 2009, complex, but mostly inspiring, taking us from venue to venue and bringing us together with so many cool people.
