Pamoyo is a green, open source fashion label with Berlin roots. We create fashion design that style & remix culture, recycled garments and ecological materials. The designs are shared under Creative Commons license free for everyone to tweak and remake. Pamoyo has existed since 2008 and is led by designer Cecilia Palmer, and a growing number of creatives that contribute to the collections.

Pamoyo clothes are designed with flow, drawing connections between the past and the future. We follow our own rhythm of collections and styles and strive to make every collection a new artistic invention or social statement. Instead of following fashion seasons or trends, we create an inspiring flow of new products and items.

We believe in slow fashion. Clothing you want to live in, that accompany you on adventures, create own stories together with you. We choose for quality as well as a green, social manufacturing process. We upcycle locally sourced vintage garments into new styles, combined with organic, fairly produced cotton from Turkey and Uganda. We collaborate with a local production studio and all the clothing is made in Berlin-Neukölln.

Remix fashion as recycled fashion is not new-but I like the expansion of the algo-rhythm of this gesture recycling production.

How does project benefit the client (if there is a client)?
We design and produce clothes to make you look and feel good, while being socially and ecologically sound.

How does project benefit the people you are speaking to with your communication?
Pamoyo invites the audience to involve in the design process by publishing designs/patterns under a creative commons license.

How does project benefit the wider society?
We aim to support, promote and strengthen a greener, more sustainable fashion industry and consumption culture. We choose materials free from pesticides, produced under fair conditions, as well as recycled materials, to reduce the negative impact our clothes have on the environment and those living in it.

How did/does this project benefit author (authors/makers of the project)?
Pamoyo is a platform to develop and design smart upcycling concepts, and build creative collaborations between designers, artists and makers. This is our playground to put our ideas into reality, and that's indeed beneficial. We like to change things while having fun (aka "if I can't dance, it's not my revolution")

Tell us something about your view on communication. What is your / your organisation's / initiative's (visual) communication philosophy?
We strive to communicate the positive vibe and engaged spirit that made us do this.

What about the process of creating this work? Please describe it.
As previously mentioned, we follow our own rhythm of collections and seasons, as opposed to the conventional fashion industry clockwork. The process is fired on by people we meet, collaborations that take shape, interesting vintage clothing pieces we find or exciting materials. And all the rest that inspires us. But basically, we design, sew, make, shoot, present, sell things.
