Orto diffuso

Orto diffuso is a project of mapping vegetable gardens in Milano. As everyone knows metropolis and vegetable gardens are the opposit. Anyway a growing number of people (due to economic crisis but also to the pleasure of Diy) are demanding more spaces to do vegetable gardening in town. many are squatting abandoned lots, some require a more istitutional recognization. But the town of Milano in anwering very slowly to those requests. Orto diffuso is collaborationg also with Libere rape metropolitane, the network of urban gardens in Milano.

How does project benefit the client (if there is a client)?
There's no client, and anyway anyone who is interested iin urban gardening can be happy to participate

How does project benefit the people you are speaking to with your communication?
The project improve the networking of people who make urban spaces greener and who want to squat empty spaces withoout being evicted in a while.

How does project benefit the wider society?
The study of urban agriculture in very important for the next years. We need a different model of metropolis, more green and more self sufficient.

How did/does this project benefit author (authors/makers of the project)?
I am interested in improving a better style of living in town

Tell us something about your view on communication. What is your / your organisation's / initiative's (visual) communication philosophy?
The project propose a map. A geographical map is a very effective media which let people understand in a glance the presence of other people doing the same thing.

What about the process of creating this work? Please describe it.
I decided to put the blog on an collective project of server and blog. I use an open source map. I am improving the access of the map with a wiki map accessible to all.
