Description of idea

Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

After doing initial research I realised I wanted to address food imagery by creating my own. In this imagery the main message I want to communicate is the undemocratisation of food through commodification of produce into products which siezes power and dictates to traditional cottage industry. I wanted to create an artwork that visually sends a message about food democracy so the viewer takes their own message from the piece.

What kind of communication approach do you use?

I responded to this issue by creating a collage print using the illustrative images from old books on the history of psychology, chemistry, medicine and occult sciences. The imagery seemed to match my ideas about the commoditisation of food and visually rebels against mainstream food advertising.

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

The media I have created will hopefully make people think about the way the world works in regards to corporatisation of food and question the structures that society has created around food, which making this work has made me do.

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

The hidden power structures that exist that control the production of food where revealed to me and where explored and visualised in this piece

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

This work is a summation of research and learning about food democracy at QCA making it an informed piece that is meaningful to me as a designer.

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

community noticeboards in my area of West End and on the streets more as a social comment.

Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)

My friends commented about it on Facebook :)
