Really good to find this group. Socially responsive communication is really sounds like a good tag line but it somehow people find it attached to non-commercial, not for profit business. While promoting the concept of "grassroots comics" I faced it often in last one and half decade.
Since I am new to this group would still like to understand how can I share our work and open discussion about the same.

What are the possibilities of meeting the likeminded artists, practitioners ?

I think socially responsible communication practices are typically seen as being tied to non-profit, "good causes" but its really important and critical for changes to start practicing these concepts in commercial art and advertising as well. And non-profit companies do not always practice socially responsive communication, in fact PETA is "fighting the good fight" but simultaneously they sexually exploit women in their advertisements and idealize vegetarianism through sexualization. Just getting the conversation going... because you asked for discussion.

Agree, very good example you quoted of PETA, I find it too strange. So, in other words all those who practice socially responsive communication must also think about some profit at the same time or at least show the world that you can also earn while doing so ?? In my case We are non-profit and non-funded organisation but last year conducted 150 workshops in several countries...just because people liked this media and believe that nothing is more important than self expression .

I don't think its necessarily about profit, or considering making a profit while doing it. I think its just important to try to influence the bigger powers to start practicing it - advertising companies etc. because their work reaches the most people, and they have a lot of influence and power currently. And not all advertising is irresponsible, but a lot is. So it would be good to see more responsible communication practices within a corporate environment like that.

Hi Sharad, welcome! This web site allows you to network with people around the world who are interested in socially responsive communication and art. You can bild your personal network by adding people with different backgrounds to your list of comrades. The more active you will be on this platform the better you can network. You can publish blogs, you can publish your projects in the project gallery and as you already are doing- publish on the community board. It makes good sense to create a relatively big personal network here.

I suggest you publish your grassroots comics project to the project gallery:

Personally I would be very interested to create stronger networks with India. Great to have you with us!
