Description of idea

Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

The idea behind my work was to make a USB device that would plug into any computer that would act as a social media Emoji & Lingo num pad. When thinking about the theme dialogue I decided to research how dialogue has changed over the years whilst on social media platforms. How we communicate with one another and how dialogue can be as simple as a small icons depicting our emotions or feelings.
When thinking about this years theme, I wanted to create something that would embrace our ever changing dialogue and how simple and easy it has become to start online conversations with one another.
I designed The Chat Pad as a simple device that could be used by people using social media to make it easier to input these Emoji icons while talking to another person.
The Chat Pad idea was to display how easy it can be to have a conversation with another person online and how we respond to dialogue while on the internet.

What kind of communication approach do you use?

I decided to make packaging for a made up device that I created that would be a USB plug numeric pad for computers.

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

I believe that my communication would benefit society in a way that we can start to embrace the way that our dialogue has changed over the years and that we can create devices to make dialogue easier and more fun while we are on the internet.

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

Personally I learnt and took more notice of how we present ourselves online on social media platforms and how we communicate with each other. I compared how we talk online to how we communicate face to face. How when online we use abbreviations and icons to show our feelings or use as responses compared to verbal face to face responses where we talk in a complete different manner.

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

I believe my work is good communication because I used very simple and large icons for my packaging, which you can straight away recognise. I have included all information specifications on my package and a small paragraph explaining the product on the back. I used a clean font and bright colours to draw attention and make the product stand out.

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

I would implement my work in shops that sell computer hardware such as keyboards and mice. It would be placed along side numeric USB pads where it can be visibly seen for people wanting to purchase.

Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)

No my work did not have a effect on other media.
