Description of idea

Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

My idea was to create a series of posters that include the use of popular song lyrics that relate to the idea of communication and speech. I also wanted to include an element of 'community' and 'participation' so I decided to include 'tear away' tabs at the bottom of the poster that people could rip off. I did this as a way to 'challenge' people to participate and become involved with this movement. I also wanted to include an element of fun, which I've done through the inclusion of a water-colour background for each poster.

What kind of communication approach do you use?

The communication approach I have used is Poster Design.

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

In my opinion, the concrete benefits to the society because of my communication are a new found knowledge and attention to the lack of dialogue in our society. I believe it will better inform people and give them a reason to step outside their comfort zone and talk to people they may have never met before.

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

I personally learnt that I was almost blinded about the effects resulting in the total lack of communication that is happening in the world. We are so invested in social media and technology that we have lost a crucial element in human interaction.

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

I believe my work is GOOD communication work as it will appeal to a wide range of people. The lyrics that I have used are all from popular songs and artists. In my opinion, music connects us together and helps form a special bond, so I wanted to branch off from that concept to create visual posters to be placed at places such as train stations and public spaces. The use of the 'tear away' factor along the bottom of the poster acts as a 'challenge' to individuals to participate. I feel like that will encourage more people as they will feel more incline to partake.

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

When creating and designing these posters, I had the intent for them to be placed in high traffic areas such as train stations, tram/bus stops and public spaces. I have included mockups of how the posters will look when placed at train stations/tram/bus stops.

Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)

No, I don't think my intervention really had an effect on other media.
