Description of idea

Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

The focus of my poster is directed towards the people who use the comment section to voice their judgmental opinions about the people being used to promote products instead of providing helpful commentary on the actual product being advertised. I directed my poster to focus on the lack of dialogue between the commenters and the actual product, and show how the comment section on pictures is being abused to criticize and degrade celebrities based on someone's opinion, instead of being objective about the object being advertised.

What kind of communication approach do you use?

In my poster, I wanted to emphasize the importance of the product being advertised, in this case, the Dior bag. Therefore, I designed a pattern to represent the essence of the bag, using the bags outline for all of the squares. I also overlaid every picture with the bag's main color, to communicate that the bag should be the most important object in the picture, instead of the model. I also wanted to convey shame toward the audience for the comments they are posting by using actual comments from the pictures and providing a brief commentary concerning the harmful effect of these comments.

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

I believe society will benefit in learning how to post constructively about an object, rather than posting destructive comments about models and celebrities. I want society to think twice about what they are posting and realize that even though they are not saying their comments in person, they can cause harm to the object or person they are talking about. Additionally, I want society to begin to have more interactive dialogue with each other critiquing the object instead of leaving a comment that does not promote for conversation.

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

I learned how important it is to promote helpful dialogue with the comments people leave on images. Rather than writing personal opinions, it is important to address the object being discussed and begin a debate around that object to get the community talking and discussing rather than objectifying and degrading the image.

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

My work is good communication work because it conveys the harmfulness of the comments in relation to the pictures they were discussing. When taking a comment out of context and allowing it to stand on its own, the meanness and destructiveness of the comment is emphasized, and people begin to realize how cruel their opinion sounds on its own. My poster encourages the audience to read their comment before they post it and think about how they would feel if that comment was made about them.

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

This poster was a school project that we were encouraged to submit to this website. Therefore, I am implementing my work here and now in hopes that the general public will see it and learn about dialogue.

Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)

It has not had an effect on other media as of yet because I am using this site to promote it.
