Description of idea

Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

"Debt takes the power from the people and gives it in to the hands of bankers and experts." I took this line into consideration when creating my work, and portrayed that Bankers will keep earning money, while people go in debt.

I based my poster on the arcade game Pac-Man. I implemented the main theme of the game, but changed certain things to fit the topic of debt. The maze itself is based off of the shape of the Federal Reserve building. The character Bank Man, represents bankers who keep gaining money "Highscore." The "Credit" is linked to the people whose (debt) keeps increasing. The 1% and 99% representing income earners, is a play on (player1) and (player2) from the original game, and shows the 99% losing.

What kind of communication approach do you use?

Visual Communication

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

I believe my poster can speak to the public. I wanted to choose a quote that would work well with the theme of my poster as well as personally speak to the person reading it, and I believe the quote I have chosen by Thomas Jefferson helped me achieve that.

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

I was unfamiliar with the debt crisis and the Occupy Wall Street Movement before creating this work, so this competition gave me an opportunity to research the topic and understand it better.

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

I believe my poster is able to convey a message to both, people who understand the subject, as well as those who are unfamiliar with it, and raise awareness to the public. I based my poster off of Pac-Man, because I wanted to use something familiar and recognizable to grab peoples attention.

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

I intent to implement my poster on the walls of cities, open to public so everyone can see it.

Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)

No
