Description of idea

Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

By using my imagination, knowledge, research skills and ability, I responded by creating an expressive moving piece on how I believe Debt affects the average person in today’s world. My video aims to show how rich corrupt creditors are making life hard for the average everyday person by using credit cards as a way of stealing from them and owning them through the debt they now have with the creditor. As much as we hate being in debt, some of us cannot control what we buy, and therefore we keep putting ourselves into debt until one of us becomes broke and is left with almost nothing. As we cannot stop those evil creditors from destroying our lives, we must be helping ourselves by either reducing or stopping some of the things we buy that we really don’t need and cannot afford to purchase in the first place, because if we don’t, some of us will eventually be left with nothing. I wanted to keep the video as plain and simple as I could by using a bold and clear font called Apex to spell out the message of the piece, with a set of very basic but fun illustrations to support the text and give the serious issue of debt a bit of amusement to keep the viewer engaged and interested.

What kind of communication approach do you use?

My communication approach is to express my idea through a short video which is easy to understand and be viewed by anyone who is interested.

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

The benefits that my communication should bring to society are for people to be inspired to one day rise up and fight against credit card companies and creditors, and more importantly to help people realise how much money they are actually in debt, and to help them limit their usage of credit cards to buying things they can't afford.

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

I learned more about debt and how many people are affected by it, and also how corrupt creditors are, during the research for my piece. I also learned how a simple design can still create a strong effective message.

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

My work is good communication work because it is really simple, easy to follow and understand, fun, serious and engaging at the same time, and also because a lot of people of many different ages can relate to my video.

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

I intend to implement my work on Youtube as it would be of easy access for most people to view, and it would be free to watch, and also for it to be shown as a television advertisement.

Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)
