Description of idea

Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

The festival’s concept was regarding dialogue and how we might approach it in a new way. My idea of sharing sensation came from the inability of humans to fully sense the thoughts, feelings and experience of an individual. I thought; what better way can we approach the idea but to have a device that triggers all the emotional senses so we can experience at least a minimum familiarity of the content. This way, we will be able to approach a new phase of dialogue in which we have some sort of understanding towards what the individual is saying with emotions. No matter how different our cultures and experiences in life is, we all have similar brain functions. Thus, this enables us to communicate with a wide range of people. With the developing technology and social media, we lack the ability of developing a true connection with an individual. We are mostly connected with our phones; that being said, we can easily insert a smiley face when we’re actually in a deep state of depression. Thus, my idea is really towards the statement “sharing is caring”.

What kind of communication approach do you use?

I used the visual approach, in which I tried to portray how sharing sensation would work. I worked on illustrating the complete image of how our brain functions and how we react to emotions the same way.

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

I hope that with the developing technology, we can create such a device. I also want people to realize that we are limiting ourselves in communication. We no longer approach dialogue in the way it should, we are missing out the one piece of the puzzle that brings people together which is sensation.

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

I learned that one way to get people closer is to share those experiences with a mimic of emotions. This will create a new form of dialogue in which people are able to truly sense and capture each other’s feelings.

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

In my opinion, the illustration provides the audience with a potential start of a new phase of dialogue. They might start to question how such an approach might be implemented in the real world. Thus, refer back to their own experiences in trying to express their feelings to an individual with lost words.

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

I would probably implement my work in expos; a place where people gather to share ideas for a better future, and in social awareness events.

Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)

No
