Description of idea

Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

I was asked to translate a death certificate for someone who had died in my country of residence for those who wanted to understand which I did not have the correct language. What ensued was major break downs in communications and understanding of death and how death and dying means so much, how surreal it is when there is no personal connection. Using dance, my own text overlaid with the surreal sounds of someone translating into English from Indonesia wight he sounds of motorcycles anFor A western audience, death is not spoken of - it also reflects not eh urgency that often western place on people of other countries - almost child like self importance for something that the other culture may no see as important. For an Indonesian audience, it communicates the pain that one my go through form another culture - the importance that others for needing to know as they do not believe in destiny. What kind of communication approach do you use?

Text, found sound scape. words, dance bilingual, images With video playing continuously encompassing all, the view is bombard by larger cut out figures that raise the questions above about how dialogue begins ons such a sensitive subject, how memories can be made irrevent and malleable int eh hands of others, how deep inside it affects us.

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

I personally learnt that no technology in the world can make up for creativity and the desire to speak with some one. The idea of this performance video came directly format eh experience I was having and format he title of this festival. I was very proud of the effects I had achieved and the simplicity of what was community even though I would am using amateur type equipment. Art and creativity and dialogue are int eh hands of the people.

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

It is god communication work because it speaks from the heart, it puts poetry into space via movement, text and image…. poetry is the language of the heart and so much that is deemed good communication these days is often that because it is witty.. time to talk about feelings and nuance. It is human and the key to innovation is our understanding of humanity. We bridge the gap between those who respond to words and those who respond to visuals

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

ideally this work would be shown in Australia, Engliand and Indonesia. We prefer live interactive spaces where people can pass through and experience and contemplate the dialogue that has taken place, to be consumed by the visual, tone consumed by the sounds, to move into the other world.
