Description of idea

Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

The project maps out a design to introduce futures study into class rooms.

What kind of communication approach do you use?

Goal was to develop explicit individual foresight thinking that over time would become an explicit social process. By engaging students to think about possible, probably, plausible and preferred futures by helping them challenge their assumptions that they have today about tomorrow. To help them reflect on HOW they think, so they can question/explore the images, stories and unquestioned ways of how we do things today so they might plan for a preferred future other than a used future and potentially an unwanted future.

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

By challenging our assumptions of today, we can explore the institutions, systems, structures and language that defines how we think and act by becoming better critical thinkers. Hopefully by teaching them some tools/methods this might help us think longer term and better prepared for potential futures rather than one expect to be tomorrow...someones official future.

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

Need to pitch the learning workshop with the correct audience. The need to convince the education system/institutions of the benefits e.g. the future does not exist, but nor does history other than in our selective memories and history books of someones interpretation. Making it pleasurable and not over complicate it. To know that it takes time for people to get this type of thinking..one mind at a time.

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

-

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

-

Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)

This project has its own integrity and internal logic. However it does not express or relate to the conference theme of pleasure.
