Description of idea

Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

The concept behind the painting is based around the American financial crisis, as that is one that is at an extreme level and well publicized. The Image conveys US President Barrack Obama making some sort of monetary deal with the infamous Monopoly man, who evokes the idea of easy, never-ending money. The deal between the two represents a solution for the Ten Trillion dollar debt; Monopoly money now comes into play as America is ‘out of money’. The reference to monopoly money also toys with the idea of how money is spent in first world countries in modern society; it is treated as play money. More and more is spent on insignificant yet glamorous items, instead of essential items in the budget. The American flag has deliberately been painted on top of the American 100 Dollar Bill background in a messy manner to represent the imperfections of the country and their financial status. If only it was this easy to fix the world financial crisis.

What kind of communication approach do you use?

The piece is a Painting with a background made from cut out paper.

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

To get the everyday viewer to be aware of and understand the World Financial Crisis and the severity of it.

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

Learnt more facts about America's Financial Crisis, the amount of debt they are in and how this affects them as a country and also how it relays across the world.

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

It is a strong Concept behind a vibrant and interesting painting. The concept is easily understandable to those who are uneducated about the subject of debt, but can be further understood by those who are aware of the facts about debt and in particular the World Financial Crisis.

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

It would be ideal to place the painting somewhere which is relevant to the concept. America for example, a bank, maybe even Wall Street.

Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)
