Description of idea

Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

Modern Slavery depicts the critical culture of debt. Working with typography to embrace a full visual scene. My target audience involves all human beings who conform to such acts of Debt in their lives; Debt being of having a house loan, dealings with money, slavery, credit, or obligations in any form.

What kind of communication approach do you use?

In my work I have used layering of typography and hidden meanings to more understanding of how our debt is today. Modern Slavery portrays The Statue of Liberty standing high with her torch lit, embedded in her makeup is the complete lyrics of the US national anthem. Varying in different colours to control the high lights, mid-tones and shadows. With the use of tonal greens in Modern Slavery you can also refer to the characteristics of money and the layers found in money. Behind Liberty creeps a fierce and violent tidal wave, which is made up of informed texts relative and dealing with the causes of Debt. Suggesting she will be swallowed up within seconds and surged in to her own darkness of debt.

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

I challenge this notation with negative science fiction imagery to create thought and discussion about where our freedom is really headed. And how different types of Debt within our society today can control and evoke disaster. Much like the symbolism of natural disaster in my artwork.
With making individuals aware of of this subject matter within our society, we can introduce new ideas and advances to producing a better future for new generations.

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

I learnt from my work the history of debt and how consciousness can put into motion a new thinking of Debt.

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

My work features good communication as it portrays modern elements of old features on Debt. That one and all can empathise with and show appreciation for a new mode of thinking of Debt.

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

With my working being a poster it can be shown in all kinds of environments and atmospheres that can been seen by all passers.

Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)
