Description of idea

Describe your idea and concept of your work in relation to the festival outlines:

It is important that Debt is recognised and understood in our society as an on going issue, and in order to create this understanding the concept developed for this project stems from the idea that we are all in Debt as individuals, as a society and globally. The final concept plays on the idea of Debt is a pest, hence the rabbit is know for it's rapid breeding rate and are found almost everywhere. Similarly debt has a tendency to increase rapidly once in motion it's not seen as positive yet still accepted as a part of our lives. So by making the rabbit out of money it creates a subtle reference to societies and individuals rapidly and on going growing debt.

What kind of communication approach do you use?

Sculptural communication seemed the most appropriate output since it reaches a wide audience, not to mention it may also be placed strategically to place emphasis on the idea.

What are in your opinion concrete benefits to the society because of your communication?

In viewing the sculpture in the everyday environment on a regular basis the idea of debt is consistently on the mind and makes people more conscious and careful about their decisions when it comes to money as an individual, which then eventually impacts on a society as a whole.

What did you personally learn from creating your submitted work?

Debt is much greater than the individual and society, however it is an issue that must be tackled slowly. We will most likely never be free of debt however awareness is key to a more stable society.

Why is your work, GOOD communication WORK?

The work itself presents the viewer with an idea, that is Debt. This idea can then be interpreted and evolved to apply to the individual. ALso the impact of this then lends itself to be thought about in relation to society because of placement, structure and size.

Where and how do you intent do implement your work?

Theoretically the work would be placed in a high traffic area that is typically related to the subject matter to increase relevance. Would ideally be made of wood or metal so that it was structurally sound.

Did your intervention had an effect on other Media. If yes, describe the effect? (Has other media reported on it- how? Were you able to change other media with your work- how?)

Did not have the resources to put this into action as a large 3D structural piece, so just produced a small origami figure and also a 2 point perspective of the type of area this was to be placed.
